An excerpt from his acceptance speech:

“The award highlights the critical role flight instructors play in aviation safety, both in Canada & Globally. Safety begins from the ground up, and the industry depends on experienced instructors and mentors to guide students and junior pilots who then carry what they learned from their instructor throughout their flying journeys.

Preserving David’s Memory and Inspiring Others.

As a father myself, this final point holds deep personal significance. The award keeps David’s memory alive and inspires instructors to always act as captains first – to protect human life above all else. David gave his life doing just that, and his legacy and this award continue to make aviation safer for everyone.”
